AmpereArc Ltd manufactures energy hardware and installs the systems it goes into. When you ask us for a quote, when we survey your site, when we install equipment and when you use the portal, we hold information about you. For that information we are the data controller.

We do not collect data speculatively. Each of the following comes from a specific point in dealing with us.

• When you enquire. Your name, email address, phone number, the address of the property, and whatever you tell us about the site and what you want it to do.
• When we survey. Photographs of the property, measurements, details of the existing electrical installation, meter and supply information, roof and structure notes, and access arrangements. Survey photographs of an occupied property can incidentally include people and possessions; we use them only to design and evidence the work.
• When we design and connect. Correspondence with your distribution network operator and any information they require about the property and the proposed installation.
• When we install. Commissioning records, test results, equipment serial numbers, the date the system was energised, and who carried out the work.
• When you buy. Order, invoice and payment records. Card details are handled by our payment provider and are not stored by us.
• When you contact support. The serial number, what you told us about the fault, and the record of what we did about it.
• When you use this website. Preferences you set are stored in your own browser, not sent to us. See the cookie notice.

We do not ask for special category data — health, ethnicity, beliefs — and you should not send it to us. If a vulnerability at the property is relevant to how we schedule or carry out work, tell us only what we need to act on.

UK GDPR requires a lawful basis for each use. Ours are these, and nothing beyond them.

• Performance of a contract. Quoting, surveying, designing, supplying, installing, commissioning, invoicing and supporting the system you bought.
• Legal obligation. Accounting and tax records, and any records we are required to keep or notify in relation to electrical work and grid connection.
• Legitimate interests. Responding to enquiries that have not yet become orders, keeping installation records so a system can be supported years later, product safety and recall, securing the portal, and defending claims. Where we rely on this we have weighed it against your interests and you can object — see clause 09.
• Consent. Marketing email, and any non-essential cookies. Consent can be withdrawn at any time and withdrawing it does not affect anything done beforehand.

We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing. It is disclosed only where the work requires it:

• Your distribution network operator, for connection and export applications relating to your property.
• Subcontractors and trades working on your installation, who receive the site details they need and nothing more.
• Suppliers and manufacturers, where a warranty claim or a safety notice concerns a specific serial number.
• Our service providers — hosting, email, accounting and payment processing — under contracts that restrict them to acting on our instructions.PROCESSOR LIST
• Professional advisers, insurers and authorities where we are required to disclose or need to establish or defend a legal claim.

Some AmpereArc equipment — inverters, meters and data loggers — can report operating data over the internet so a system can be monitored and diagnosed remotely. That data is about the equipment: generation, charge and discharge, import and export, status and fault codes. Attached to an address and an account, it becomes personal data, and it can reveal patterns of occupancy.

Monitoring is a function of the product, not a condition of owning it. If you would rather the equipment did not report, say so and we will configure it accordingly at commissioning or afterwards.

Retention and storage of telemetry: TO BE CONFIRMED

The portal is for installers, staff and system owners. Accounts hold your name, email address, role and the hardware assigned to you. Signing in with a Google account passes us your name, email address and profile picture from Google; we do not receive your Google password.

Actions taken in the hardware registry — generating, assigning, replacing or revoking a serial number — are logged with the account that performed them and the time. That log exists so equipment history is traceable, and it is retained with the equipment record.

Different records have genuinely different useful lives. An enquiry that goes nowhere should not be kept as long as the commissioning record for a battery that is still on a wall.

When a period ends we delete the record or anonymise it so it can no longer identify you.

Storage locations and any transfers outside the UK: TO BE CONFIRMED

Where data is transferred outside the UK we will name the safeguard relied on. Until that is confirmed this notice makes no claim either way.

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to do all of the following, free of charge, and we will respond within one month.

• See it. Get a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct it. Have inaccurate data put right.
• Delete it. Have data erased where we no longer have a reason to hold it. Records we are legally required to keep, or need in order to support a live installation, are the usual exception.
• Restrict or object. Have us pause a use, or object to processing we base on legitimate interests. You can object to direct marketing at any time and we will stop.
• Take it with you. Receive data you gave us in a portable, machine-readable form.
• Withdraw consent for anything we do on that basis.

Write to Info@amperearc.com. If you are not satisfied with how we handle it you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. We would rather you came to us first, but you do not have to.

This site stores your theme and accessibility preferences in your own browser and does not send them to us. What is set, why, and how to clear it is set out in full in the cookie notice.

We do not make decisions about you by automated means that have a legal or similarly significant effect. Sizing tools on this site produce an indicative result from the figures you enter; they are a calculation, not a decision, and every quotation is reviewed and issued by a person.

When this notice is issued it will carry a version and a date, and material changes will be dated so you can see what changed and when. Until then it remains a draft and carries neither.
