A battery does not make electricity. It moves it — out of the hours your tariff charges most for, and into the hours you actually cook, charge and heat in. Whether the cheap kilowatt-hours come from an overnight rate or from your own roof, the mechanism is identical, and the whole argument comes down to how many you can shift and how wide the gap between the two prices is.

What goes on the wall
Both are LiFePO4 at 51.2 V nominal with an integrated battery management system and CAN or RS485 supervision. The difference is how much of a day you want to hold.
The starting point. One pack covers the evening peak in a two- or three-bedroom house on a single-phase supply, and it will bolt onto a solar array you already own. It wall-mounts, so it wants a solid wall in a garage, utility or plant room rather than a cupboard.
For a house that runs an EV charger, a heat pump, or both. 14.46 kWh usable is most of a normal day's consumption, which is what makes a full overnight-rate strategy work rather than just clipping the top off the evening. It stands on the floor and weighs as much as two people.
The part that decides
The pack only stores. The hybrid inverter reads the meter, the array and the state of charge, and decides every few seconds whether to import, store or discharge. It is also the component that holds your nominated circuits live when the grid drops — which is why the transfer time below matters more than any headline capacity figure.
Cost
Because the number is set by your house, not by the battery. Two identical 16 kWh packs can be a full day apart in labour depending on where the consumer unit sits and how far the cable has to travel. A headline figure with an asterisk under it would tell you nothing you could plan with. What we can publish is exactly what a quote contains and exactly what moves it.
VAT treatment on domestic storage is confirmed in writing on the quote rather than assumed on a web page.
From enquiry to energised
Five stages. Each one ends in something you can hold, which is how you tell whether it happened.
An engineer comes to the house, photographs the consumer unit, measures the cable run and agrees where the pack goes. Nothing here is priced off a phone call and a postcode.
Survey notes and photographic record
A single-line diagram, a bill of materials and a fixed price. If something is genuinely unknown we tell you what it is rather than hiding it in a provisional sum.
Single-line diagram and itemised quote
We submit the connection application to your distribution network operator and wait for their response before booking the install date. Skipping this is how people end up with a system they cannot legally run.
Connection reference
Isolate, mount, cable, terminate, board work, energise. The power is off for part of the day and we tell you which part before we start, not while you are on a call.
Installed and energised system
Charge and discharge windows set against your actual tariff, circuits labelled, app configured, and a walkthrough with whoever in the house is going to use it.
Test results, labelled board, credentials
Most single-pack retrofits are a one-day install. A pack, an inverter and a new consumer unit is usually two.
